Could you translate this sentence of Einstein in English, i try to do it but my knowledge in danish is too light. it’s about difficulties and solutions isn’t it ? Thanks. And by the may what means fik du et afslag ? (PS : I’m French…)

Instead of me trying to translate to English from Danish, I did some searching and found the original Albert Einstein quote:

“In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”

My translation would have been somewhat different, and if you would translate it to France from that, it might be changed to mush.

To avoid translation problems, I try to find the quotes in the original language and post it aswell as a Danish translation (my own or others).

This qoute was on a postcard.

Sorry to insist, but could you translate for me “fik du et afslag”. In fact, I’m just back from two weeks in Copenhagen where I spent a great journey and I made a travel book and I would like to use the Einstein post card in it, but before, I want to know what means the message on it… Thanks and have a good day.

“Fik du et afslag?” is tricky. It can be used in several ways in Danish, which I in English would use different sentences for.
